My first experience with a lathe was in middle school shop class. We’d glue up boards and then attempt to make a bowl out of them with a minimum of demonstration from our instructor. I don’t think anyone walked away with any confidence of the techniques learned.
Fast-forward to my chance meeting with a master turner and instructor and taking a structured course. Now I’m gaining more confidence, acquiring the right tools and looking forward to ongoing skill practices. I’ve also joined the Chippewa Valley Woodturners Guild which endeavors to promote the knowledge and skills of the craft.
Here are a few of my wood turning posts. Others can be found by keyword or tag searches.
