My interest in Origami started sometime in childhood. My uncles would come to visit and they would take old newspapers and fold them into paper hats and boats. Then one Christmas, our mother got us a simple Origami kit; a little booklet with some colored paper. My brother and I folded all the shapes in the book including the last one, the most complicated, the flapping bird. I never lost interest in this 3 dimensional pastime and over the years acquired a few more books, some that cover the history a little bit, others that have very complex objects in them and even one that is entirely about folded hearts.
The Flapping Bird makes a nice piece when folded into a crisp dollar bill,
making a Buck-Fly.
